On Metacritic, it shows how all of these horror films, shown in the screenshot, have been rated highly. Most of these horror films, however, have paranormal and supernatural themes within their stories. This tells me that we can take advantage of this rise in paranormal films in our final horror trailer as our initial idea is to go for a paranormal genre as seen here if done right (unlike Paranormal Activity's numerous sequels) the film will be highly received and we can add a lot of paranormal themes and features into our trailer alone.
The lack of slasher films present here (you can only see Nightmare on Elm Street, Sweeney Todd and Shaun of the Dead) shows that the genre in itself is slowly dying and you don't really see ground-breaking slashers like Scream or Halloween present in this day and age as the formula would more than likely be the same.
